Where it all began…
In 2015, I set off for my first overseas adventure to Hurghada, Egypt, where I worked as part of the entertainment crew at a couple of hotels. The job wasn’t glamorous—the pay was low, and the hours were long—but I had the most fun I’ve ever had in a job. I taught stretching, aqua gymnastics, salsa, Zumba fitness, led games, and spent countless hours rehearsing for our evening shows. It was exhausting, but the energy, the fun, and the chance to connect with so many people made it all worth it.
The warm weather was an absolute bonus! The sunshine, the feeling of the ocean breeze, and the incredible energy of the place made it hard to leave. But I knew that I had to go back to Germany to finish my senior high school degree. Still, I also knew deep down that my time in Egypt was just the beginning. I’d caught the travel bug for good.
Not long after, a friend who had been backpacking through Asia shared stories about her favorite spot: Lombok, Indonesia. Her eyes lit up when she talked about it, and I was instantly intrigued. We made plans to visit together in 2016, and I stayed for three unforgettable weeks. The island, the culture, the people—it was all so different from anything I knew. That trip changed everything. I knew that once I finished school, I was going to backpack through Southeast Asia and beyond.
I didn’t put any time limits on it—just a starting point in Indonesia, with Australia next on the list. And so began my adventure.
Stay Tuned…
This was just the beginning! There’s so much more to come as I share my travel experiences—from Indonesia to Australia and beyond. Stay tuned for the next chapter of my adventure!
