Essential 2nd Trimester Must-Haves Every Expecting Mom Needs
Second Trimester Must-Haves: Comfort and Care for Mama-to-Be
The second trimester is often called the “honeymoon phase” of pregnancy, but it’s also when your body starts to need more support. Whether you’re dealing with backaches, leg cramps, or just the growing pressure of your belly, these must-haves have helped me feel more comfortable and energized as I navigate this exciting stage.
1. Pregnancy Pillow – Your Best Friend for Sleep
I talked about my pregnancy pillow in my first blog post, but if there was ever a time to emphasize how much I love it, it’s now. As my belly grows, I’m more grateful than ever for the relief my pillow provides. I personally love my Sleepy Belly Pregnancy Pillow, especially because of its natural latex filling. It’s a huge win for me, as I’m really conscious of what’s inside the products I use, and the natural latex (rather than polyester) is a big plus for me.
One of my favorite features of this pillow is its versatility. You can use it in so many ways — whether it’s supporting your back, between your legs for extra comfort while sleeping, or even as a prop during lounging or reading. Plus, it’s washable and relatively small compared to some of the more bulky pillows on the market. If you’re in your second trimester and starting to feel more pressure on your body, trust me, a pregnancy pillow like this will be a game-changer!
2. Magnesium Rub & Supplements – Bye-Bye Leg Cramps
Anyone who’s experienced leg cramps in pregnancy knows they can be brutal. Nothing quite prepares you for waking up with a sudden cramp in the middle of the night! To tackle this, I’ve been using a magnesium rub on the soles of my feet every evening. It’s incredibly soothing and helps prevent those annoying cramps. But that’s not all! I take Magnesium Chelate 1000mg before bed to help with muscle relaxation. In addition, I take a Probiotic for digestion (goodbye constipation) and a Calcium + Vitamin D3 Supplement to support my bones and immune health. These simple additions have made such a difference.
3. Belly Oil – Hydrate That Growing Belly
As my belly grows, I’ve started using belly oil to keep my skin moisturized and prevent dryness and itching. My favorite is Pure Mama Belly Oil, but plain coconut oil or jojoba oil works wonders too. A little TLC goes a long way to keep your skin feeling good as it stretches to accommodate that growing baby!
4. Prenatal Vitamins & Iron – Essential for Mama’s Health
Prenatal vitamins are essential, but quality matters. I switched to Naturopest prenatal vitamins, which are bioavailable and easy to digest. Along with my prenatal, I take an Iron Supplement to keep my energy levels up and help prevent anemia. It’s amazing how much of a difference these high-quality supplements have made in how I feel overall.
5. Pregnancy Belly Band – Say Goodbye to Back and Pelvic Pain
As my pregnancy progresses, I’ve started to feel more pressure on my lower back and pelvis, especially during walks, workouts, or even just a long day of standing. To help support my joints, I ordered a Pregnancy Belly Band — and let me tell you, it’s been a game-changer! It offers extra support for your growing belly, reduces strain on your back, and helps with pelvic pain. It’s especially helpful if you’re still staying active with light exercise or just running errands. I wear it when I go for longer walks or even during more intense movements like dancing or HIIT workouts. If you’re experiencing any pelvic discomfort, I highly recommend giving this a try.
